In the light of universal and national values, Pamukkale University has taken it as a mission to carry out research and development activities in accordance with the needs of the age. The university has adopted the vision of being an international university that leads to scientific developments, is innovative, produces value and is based on excellence. In light of the university's vision and mission, The Journal of Pamukkale University Social Sciences Institute (PAUSBED) aims to provide interaction between both field experts and science and society by publishing qualified articles related to social science fields.

The Journal of Pamukkale University Social Sciences Institute (PAUSBED) is an academic publication containing qualified articles related to social science fields. PAUSBED was first published in 2008. The journal has been published as 3 issues until 2017 and has been published as an e-journal since 2017. After 2018, PAUSBED decided to be published quarterly, every January, April, July, and October. The journal is an international refereed journal published electronically. The publication language of the journal is Turkish, English and French. "İmla Kılavuzu" published by the Turkish Language Association for Turkish studies, and grammar rules of those foreign languages ​​are taken as the basis for papers.

PAUSBED accepts theoretical and applied academic studies that focus on current issues and problems. The academic areas which the journal accept to publication are Turkish Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Linguistic Sciences and Cultural Studies, Econometrics, Philosophy, Economics, Business Administration, Political Science, Public Finance, Art History, Sociology, Sports Management, History, Tourism Management, and Music Performance.

PAPER GUIDELINES FOR THE JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES INSTITUTE OF PAMUKKALE UNIVERSITY



Journal Policy

PAUSBED is an academic journal that gives place to the articles of quality in fields of social sciences. It is a journal with referees. The articles sent to be published in the journal shall be evaluated by the referees who are specialized in the field concerned and whose names are not revealed. The journal is published, in January, April, July and December. The language of the journal is Turkish, English, French and October. “İmla Kılavuzu”, published by Turkish Language Association, is used for the papers in Turkish; as for the papers in English and German, the grammar rules and principles of the language in question shall be used. In addition, it is obligatory that Turkish versions of the articles in foreign languages in all the fields, excepting for the fields in foreign languages such as English, French and German Language and Literature, should be sent. The following are to be obeyed in the papers:

  • Articles that do not comply with the paper guidelines will not be processed and will be returned to the author.
  • Each paper should contain the following information: a-Turkish title, b- English title, c-Summary, d-Keywords, e- Abstract, f-Keywords, g-Footnote, h-Bibliography
  • The authors should upload two copies of their research which are "With author info" and "Without author info" formats to the system. "With author info" format should contains ORCID information.
  • The authors should upload the similarity screening report (iThenticate or Turnitin) to the system.

The Rules to Follow in the Papers


1. It is necessary that papers submitted to the journal should not be previously published, nor should they be under consideration and evaluation for publication in other journals. If the articles have been presented as a paper at a congress, symposium and meeting beforehand or accepted as a thesis, they may be published on the condition that they are introduced along with the date and place of their presentation and admitted by the Board. Any responsibility on this subject concerns the author(s).


2. Submitting their papers to be published in PAUSBED within the body of Social Sciences Institute of Pamukkale University, the authors agree to give the copyright of the papers to PAUSBED within the body of Social Sciences Institute of Pamukkale University. The copyright of the papers published belongs to the journal and cannot be transferred without showing a reference.


3. Scholarly, contextual, lingual and legal responsibility of the papers published in the journal belongs to the author(s) of the paper in question.


4. The papers should be written on one side of an A4 paper with 2,5 cm margin on right and left sides of page and 5 cm margin on the bottom and top of the page. 10 point Calibri should be used and a single space should be left between the lines. Page numbers should be placed on the right lower corner. The whole of the paper, together with the abstract and bibliography, should not exceed 20 pages. The papers should be written in Word for Windows software program as it is commonly used in computers in order to accelerate the procedures of composition, correction and publication. Also, it should be sent to the journal via e-mail in two copies, one with a page that describes the author and the other without it.


5. The title should be written with bold and capital letters in 13 point in the language of the paper.


6. The title should be followed by an abstract of the paper and key words (3-8 words). If the paper is Turkish, the title, abstract and keywords should also be written in English. If the paper is written in a foreign language, the second title should be Turkish and Turkish abstract and key words should take place below the title. The abstract should be written in 9 point and a single-space format.


7. The title, name and surname of the author(s) should be written in the middle below the title. The sign (*) should be placed at the end of the names to describe the institution, address and e-mail address of the author(s) at the bottom of the first page.


8. The papers should be written in accordance with the above guidelines and titles and subtitles should be written with a 1,25-cm indent. The main topic and sub-topics of the paper should be numbered in four levels at most as 1., 1.1, 1.1.1 and 1.1.1.1. The title in the first level should be wholly written in capital letter. The first letters of all the words of the titles in the other levels should be written in capital letter and the others in small letters; they should all be in 10-point and bold. Numbering shall be done in all the titles, including those of the introduction and conclusion parts. Paragraphs should be created with 0.5 cm indent. There should be no line spacing between paragraphs.

9. The writings in tables and figures should be written with single space and within the limits of the text. Title of the table should be numbered and given just above the top of the table in such a way as to give the content of the table. If the title of the table requires a second line, it should be aligned with the table number. If the table has been transferred from another paper, the reference should be given below the table. Reference: Surname of the author, Date of publication: The number or interval of the pages that contain the table (Reference: Solak, 2006: 25- 26). Table should be made just by using horizontal lines. The same is true of the figures, as well. The title of the figure should be numbered and given below the figure in such a way as to give the content of the figure. If the figure has been transferred from another paper, the reference should be given below the figure as follows (Reference: Solak, 2006: 12).


10. References should be shown within the text. If the quotation is taken from the reference without any change in it, namely in the same way as it is in the original, the whole of the quotation should be given in quotation marks. If the quotation is longer than a few sentences, it should be written in 10-point with a 1,25-cm indent from the right and left. Some examples concerning the references and quotation are given below:


Quotation from a single author: …………. Küresel dünya sisteminde hakim olan güç merkezleri, kendi gerçeklerini genelleştirip evrensel insan gerçekleri haline getirmekte (Wallerstein, 2000: 206).

Quotation from two authors:………..gerekli olduğu düşünülen/tartışılan kişilik özellikleriyle ilgili yoğunlaşma göze çarpmaktadır (Bayraktaroğlu and Kutaniş, 2003: 45).

Quotation from more than one author: …………… yapılacak yardıma ilişkin yeni öneriler sunan fikir sahipleri, sosyal girişimcilere örnek olarak verilebilir (Thompson et al., 2000: 328-338).

Quotation from more than one reference: ……………. insan ilişkileriyle ilgili ilk çalışmalar Hawthorne Çalışmalarıyla ortaya konulmuştur (Etzioni, 1964: 32;Sofer, 1972: 64).


11. Showing the references in the bibliography should be made as follows:

12. A separate cover should be prepared for either of the copies and the title of the article, the name and surname of the author(s), e-mail address, telephone number and institution should be stated in it. A cover page will not be prepared for the other copy, nor will any information of the author(s) be included on the first pages of the article.


13. The author should obtain the petition form from the web page of the journal, in which to assure us that ethical rules have not been violated in writing the article and the paper has not been published anywhere else. After signing the form, he shall send it to the fax number 0 258 2952789.


14. It is necessary that the papers submitted to the journal should be arranged according to the journal guidelines and made ready for publication. The subcommittee of the journal has the right not to publish the papers that do not conform to the journal guidelines and or to return it back to the author for him/her to revise it. Responsibility of the views in the papers published in the journal belongs to the author(s). Copyright and publication right of the texts belong to the journal. For each paper published, the author(s) of that paper shall be sent a copy of the journal in which that paper is published. No copyright fee shall be paid to the author(s) or anyone else.


EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES
The content of the manuscripts sent to Pamukkale University Journal of Social Sciences (PAUSBED) should be compatible with the scope of the journal. PAUSBED gives priority to publish “original research” manuscripts. Descriptive studies, systematic literature analyzes, meta-analyzes, and research notes are also accepted to PAUSBED.

Ethical Principles
The manuscripts to be sent to PAUSBED must not have been previously published in another journal and have not been accepted the review process for publication. The manuscripts which satisfy this condition need to be uploaded the Similarity Screening Report (iThenticate or Turnitin) to the PAUSBED system by the corresponding author.
PAUSBED adopts standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to implement broadcast ethics. In this context, it references the publication ethics flow charts developed by COPE in cases of abuse or violation of publication ethics.
PAUSBED adopts the blind referee process. PAUSBED guarantees the anonymity of the authors and referees during the review process.
The anonymity of the author(s) is the responsibility of PAUSBED. However, this information may be shared in a possible investigation to investigate possible abuses. PAUSBED defines its principles regarding possible abuse situations in accordance with the guidelines created by COPE and shares it with partners on the website.
It is not acceptable for PAUSBED to use the sections of a manuscript in more than one publication of the authors unless specified. In such cases, PAUSBED follows the relevant guidelines set by COPE.
PAUSBED defends and protects freedom of expression under all circumstances. In addition, PAUSBED evaluates all kinds of racist, sexist, discriminatory content in hate speech and uses the right to reject the studies in this content without taking into the review process.
PAUSBED is clearly a party to intellectual and ethical standards in the event of a conflict of interest in a manuscript. It defines the ethical principles that the authors, referees, editor-in-chief, and editors are responsible for the subject. In the case of a conflict of interest, PAUSBED suspends the review process of the manuscript until the uncertainty is resolved. In this context, PAUSBED has the authority to request the Ethics Committee Permission, Interviewer Consent Forms, and documents that must be submitted from the applicant author(s).
PAUSBED acts responsibly and sensitively in publishing content of the correction, explanation, apology, and content.
PAUSBED editor-in-chief and editors are liable to comply with legal advice if duplicates in one manuscript violate their intellectual property rights.

Copyright Regulation and Conflict of Interest Policy
The author has a copyright on his own study and the right to first publish the article belongs to the PAUSBED. According to the Creative Commons Attribution principles, authors allows being shared with reference to the author(s) and the PAUSBED.
The PAUSBED believes that possible conflicts of interest between its partners will harm scientific publication ethics. The PAUSBED expects all partners to act responsibly in order to detect and prevent conflicts of interest. In the submission process, all the author(s) must sign the Copyright Form and upload it to the system.

General Principles
The manuscripts sent to the PAUSBED are first seen by the editorial secretary. In the next stage, manuscripts are directed to the Editor-in-Chief and/or editors of the journal. It is evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and/or editor in terms of their originality, methodology, the importance of the subject discussed in the study, and its suitability for the scope of PAUSBED. Editor-in-chief and editors evaluate manuscripts independently of their ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religious belief, and political philosophy. Manuscripts that are not deemed appropriate in terms of content or quality are not sent to the referees for review and are rejected.
The editor-in-chief and/or editor submits the manuscript to the review of at least two referees if the submitted work complies with the formal principles. The referees may request some changes from the author(s) in the manuscript if they deem necessary. After these changes are made by the author(s), they approve the study to be published in PAUSBED.
After the manuscript has been submitted to the PAUSBED system, none of the authors' names can be deleted from the author list without the written consent of all authors. Also, a new name cannot be added as an author, and the order of the author cannot be changed.
Abstracts presented at conferences are accepted as a reference provided that they are specified in the study.
Texts and attachments that are not accepted for publication do not have to be returned to the author(s).

Open Access Policy
Articles in the Journal have open access and they have licensed as Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) (Licensing process continues). In other words, all content of the Journal is presented online and free of charge. Readers, except for commercial purposes, can read, download, copy, search and provide full texts of journal articles without permission from the publisher or authors.

Article Processing Charge
All expenses of the Journal are covered by Pamukkale University.
Article publishing and execution of the article processes are not subject to a fee. In this manner, there is no processing fee or shipping fee for articles submitted to the Journal or accepted for publication.

Reviewing Process
The journal performs the double-blind review process, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.
The Editor-in-Chief and/or editors send the manuscripts to at least two national/international reviewers if the submitted manuscripts are in accordance with the formal principles of the Journal.
The final decision belongs to Editor-in-Chief by taking into account the reviews of the reviewers.
Reviewers can accept the manuscript as it is, ask for minor or major corrections, or reject it. If there is a different opinion among the reviewers, the manuscript can be directed to another reviewer(s).
Reviewers must be objective. During the review process, the reviewers are expected to make their evaluations by considering the followings:
• Is the manuscript suitable for the type of the manuscript?
• Is the manuscript original in terms of contribution to science?
• Is the study suitable for publication in an academic journal in terms of subject and content?
• Is there a content-title fit in the manuscript?
• Does the abstract reflect the manuscript?
• Are there any Turkish and English abstracts compatible?
• What is the scientific originality level of the manuscript?
• Are the subject, purpose, and importance of the manuscript emphasized in the introduction section?
• What is the suitability of the methods utilized in the manuscript?
• Is the organization and presentation of the manuscript sufficient?
• Is the manuscript sufficient in terms of the language and expression?
• What are the degrees of clarity, suitability, and necessity of figures, pictures, and tables in the manuscript?
• Are the adequacy and necessity of references in the manuscript sufficient?

The reviewers should ensure that all information regarding the submitted manuscript remains confidential until the manuscript is published. Similarly, the reviewers should report to the editor if they notice any copyright infringement and plagiarism by the author. If the reviewer does not feel skilled about the subject of the manuscript or seems unable to provide a timely return, the reviewer should inform the editor about this situation and ask him/her not to include him/her in the reviewing process.

In the reviewing process, the editor clearly states that the manuscript sent to the reviewers for review is the private property of the authors. Reviewers and editorial board members cannot discuss the manuscript with other people. The identity of the reviewers must remain confidential.
